Weekend of 'do-gooding' and fun!

We had a fun, full weekend at home!
1) The Tooth Fairy was finally allowed to come to our house. She couldn't come Thursday night because CBW had to show Katie her tooth. She couldn't come Friday night because she had to show Auntie her tooth. Last night she didn't think she should come because the Grandmas had not seen her tooth. We finally convinced her there will be more missing teeth. The tooth fairy left five quarters. CBW thinks she is rich and was extremely excited this morning when she woke up. I was lucky I had not left for work yet so I got to see it for myself.
2) CBW worked with me for two hours on Saturday (a long time for a 5-year-old) serving food to local residents. We had a long talk on our drive about hunger and what it might be like to feel hungry each day and not know how you are going to get enough food. She took her job (of handing out granola bars) very seriously and was even brave enough to say 'hello' to most people. She did take it personally when they didn't want a granola bar. When one man asked me for pudding, apple sauce, and watermelon CBW whispered in my ear 'Mom, he is REALLY hungry.'
3) We then headed to Ty's house for an afternoon of swimming and fun. A great reward after her first volunteering experience. Josie even made an appearance after her nap. It is so fun to see CBW and Ty pick right up where they left off. We were there three hours and the kids filled it with playing and swimming in Ty's new pool. CBW was very excited to show him how she can finally put her head under water.
4) Saturday night Auntie Shelly surprised us with a visit. She even went to Babies R Us and purchased the crib tent we needed ($75!). Luckily CAW doesn't know she brought it because he isn't a fan. Our simple bedtimes have now turned into 30 minutes of screaming. He really seems scared of the tent but we are hopeful he will adjust (and soon!).
5) On Sunday I headed to my first offical MADD event as a Victime Advocate. A man was hit by a drunk driver and was in the hospital for a month and ended up losing his leg. I drove an hour in the rain only to find out the bar owner would not allow us (MADD) to be there for the fund-raiser even though the family had asked us to come. That was disappointing.
6) CBW and Uncle D got to see Ratatouille last night. They both really enjoyed it. CBW wanted Uncle D to go since her Mom doesn't like rats. I also enjoyed my time at home along with CAW!
7) Still no word on Uncle D's job. I don't think that is bad news. It just is such a long process! Hopefully this week.
Have great weeks!
